Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur

Founder and Legacy Partner

The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur founded Julie Community Center in 1975 alongside residents of East Baltimore. For decades, members of the congregation have supported the Center through board service, organizational leadership, volunteerism, fundraising, grant support, and direct involvement in community programming.

Their longstanding commitment helped establish Julie Community Center and sustain its mission of serving residents of Southeast Baltimore.

Apostolic Towers

Senior Outreach and Community Support Partner

Julie Community Center has worked with residents of Apostolic Towers through senior outreach, health case management, blood-pressure screenings, food access, and community support.

How it helps the community

This relationship has helped connect older adults and residents living on fixed incomes with health information, food resources, and personalized support.

Baltimore City Schools

Education and Youth Development Partner

Julie Community Center has collaborated with Baltimore City schools to support students through classroom assistance, AmeriCorps service, after-school programming, youth enrichment, community-school initiatives, and food-access support. Historical school relationships have included Commodore John Rogers Elementary/Middle School, Tench Tilghman Elementary/Middle School, and Wolfe Street Academy.

How it helps the community

These collaborations have helped bring educational support, enrichment opportunities, volunteers, and family resources closer to students and their neighborhoods.

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers – AmeriCorps

Volunteer Service and Program Support Partner

Julie Community Center has hosted Notre Dame Mission Volunteers through AmeriCorps to help develop and implement youth and adult education programs. Volunteers have supported GED programming, classroom assistance, local schools, Head Start programs, youth activities, and other community initiatives.

How it helps the community

AmeriCorps service members have expanded Julie's capacity to provide consistent, relationship-centered support to children, adults, schools, and families.

St. Vincent de Paul Head Start

Child Care Career Pathway Partner

Julie Community Center works with St. Vincent de Paul Head Start in support of its Child Care Careers Training Program and the development of a pathway from early-childhood education training to employment and career growth.

How it helps the community

The partnership connects adults pursuing child-care credentials with practical career opportunities in early-childhood education.

GPS University

Program Development and Community Initiatives Partner

GPS University works alongside Julie Community Center to design, develop, and support youth enrichment, mentoring, leadership, wellness, community events, and special initiatives. Current collaboration includes support for the Compass Project Summer Leadership Experience and the development of Swing for Change. GPS University also assists Julie with testing and developing new ideas that can grow into sustainable community programs.

How it helps the community

The partnership helps Julie create new opportunities for young people and families while building programs around mentorship, belonging, wellness, leadership, recreation, and community connection.
